About LSSL Technology

Avanti Nano’s Life Sciences @ Speed of Light (LSSL) technology is built on proven, time tested technology —fluorescent compounds, acousto-optics, nanocomposites, digital signal processing and traditional biochemistry — that have been integrated in a unique way. Featuring a flexible, open-architecture design, LSSL technology can be configured to perform a wide variety of life science based applications quickly, cost-effectively and accurately.

Open-architecture LSSL technology, developed by Avanti NanoSciences, is ideally suited to a wide range of applications throughout the drug-discovery development, manufacturing process monitoring, molecular diagnostics, bio defense, clinical end point monitoring and food safety as well as basic Life Science research. Highly sensitive and accurate, yet designed for high throughput and increased assay speed, LSSL technology can help clinicians and researchers alike save time and costs while boosting productivity.

First, we color-code brightly fluorescent nanoparticles, called NanoBindisTM, into number of distinct probe-specific sets. Each set can be coated with a reagent specific to a particular biomarker, allowing the capture and detection of specific analytes from a sample. Within the Gate Keeper ID compact analyzer, light sources excite the internal dyes within the silica shell that identify each nano particle. Multiple readings are made on each set, further validating the results. By incorporating different fluorescent dyes within the silica shell, LSSL technology allows multiplexing as well as multi parameter testing of number of unique assays within a single sample, both rapidly and precisely.

 Technology Advantages and Benefits:

  • Reduced cost and labor by multiplexing and multi-parameter testing
  • Shortened time-to-results by favorable reaction kinetics of silica shell with fluorescent core array approach, with smaller sample requirements
  • Multi parameter testing ensures increased sensitivity and reliability as compared to traditional single parameter testing for individual biomarker.
  • Incorporation of different fluorescent dyes within the silica shell allows multiplexing in single test medium. Focused, flexible multiplexing and multi parameter testing meets the needs of a wide variety of applications - protein or gene expression profiling, clinical biomarker monitoring for drug efficacy, product validation, microbial detection, bio defense, drug discovery and development and a variety of commercial applications.
  • Open architecture platform allows market leading companies to provide compatible kits and software
